Dominicans claim International and 18 Open titles

Club Dominican Republic kept its winning streak alive in the final day of play for the International Division at the 45th AAU Girls’ Junior National Volleyball Championships.

ORLANDO, Fla (June 28, 2018) – The Dominican Republic completed a perfect run at the 45th AAU Volleyball National Championships winning both the 18 International and Open division on Thursday.

The Dominican side, coached by Brazilian Wagner Pacheco, defeated the Sport Performance Elite 18 of Illinois 2-0 (25-15, 25-18).

Both teams were coming from three-set victories in earlier
contests on Thursday.

The Dominican Republic had defeated Puerto Rico 2-1 (17-25, 25-17, 15-13) to claim the International Division while Sort Performance Elite 18 had prevailed against Asics Munciana Samurai of Indiana 2-1 (25-23, 12-25, 15-11).
The Elite 18 of Illinois had won also in three sets over Asics Team Elite 18 of Indiana 2-1 (25-12, 20-25, 15-10) to win the 18 Division of United States.

The team of Dominican Republic consisted of Erika Asencio, Camila De la Rosa, Yanlis Feliz, Geraldine González, Madeline Guillén, Flormarie Heredia Colón, Hennesys Lalane, Natalia Martínez, Raquel Rodríguez, Yaneirys Rodríguez and Mesalina Yosil.
Pächeco had Cristian Cruz, Yeiri Pérez and Cesar Villalona as his assistant coaches.
